Semroc and the Resurgence of Kit Mania

It has been five years since we “launched” LAUNCH Magazine. With that in mind, it seems like a good time to acknowledge three of the magazine’s top supporters who, without question, are among the model rocketry hobby’s heroes: Carl, Sheryl and Bruce McLawhorn of Semroc.

For those of us who still remember the thrill of getting that Estes or Centuri box loaded with model rocket kits in the mail during the 1960s and ‘70s, Semroc was and is a return to the good old days of the hobby.

The design, parts and packaging of Semroc kits have no equal. They are simply superb. And their customer service is unparalleled as well.  Yet, for many of their customers, the most thrilling aspect is the chance to spend time with the McLawhorns. They are ambassadors for the greatest hobby on Earth.

So cheers to Semroc on what would be the fifth anniversary of the magazine they so kindly supported. It meant a lot to us.

-- Mark Mayfield, Mario Perdue, Deb Martin
