Space Modeling Book Update
I'm making steady progress on the builds for my Space Modeling book. The two "easy" builds - an Astron Mark Clone from Semroc and a pseudo-clone of a friend's design from the '70s are done and waiting for paint. I'm currently working on my 1:70th scale NASA series that includes a Mercury-Redstone, Mercury-Atlas, Gemini-
Titan, Saturn 1B and Saturn V. The first three models are together except for some details like surface piping and such. I'm currently re-visiting the Semroc Saturn 1B to update the article to add additional scale features. Then I'll move on to the Apogee Saturn V and a rework of the Launch Utility Tower. I chose to use the Apogee Saturn V model over the Sirius model that I wrote about previously because the scale of the former is consistent with the other models I'm building.
Other builds that I've been working on include the the 2X Interceptor from an early issue of LAUNCH. This time around I'll include some information on a 3X model as well. I'm currently finishing up the design of another up-scale of a well known rocket from Centuri for my section on exotics.
In another section I plan to build a couple of boost gliders. These models will be straight clones of older designs that I particularly enjoyed when I was younger. Gliders are fun because they require a different skill set to make them work well. I'll also be revisiting the Cineroc-HD article - this time the build of the booster vehicle will also be covered.
Other builds are planned. I'll try to include some photos in my next update.
